Betriebliches Lernen und Karriere im Unternehmen
Increasing industrial internationalisation, ever shorter innovation cycles, demographic change and new information and communication media represent societal as well as technological change processes. These changes result in increased complexity in management processes and complicate the successful establishment of sustainable competitive advantages. From the viewpoint of personnel and organisational development, there are two major interface points for the creation of advantages: the one between company-internal learning and employees and the other between organisation and employee. Concepts for company-internal learning and for fostering careers within companies are currently being discussed and tested. To date, the links between company-internal learning and career opportunities within companies were largely disregarded. This is the starting point of this document, which queries the influence of informal learning on career paths within a company theoretically and empirically. The objective of the document is to contribute to the theoretical and practical discussion about informal learning within organisations and is aimed at professional and managerial staff in companies, as well as at lecturers and students of personnel development.
