Narrative Dimensions of Philosophy

That knowledge about the world and self is imparted through narrative is widely accepted; the techniques used to construct this knowledge have received less attention. This book uses a semiotic methodology to analyze works by Merleau-Ponty, Kierkegaard and Austin, and explore how conceptualizations of reality are formed through narrative strategy. SKY MARSEN is Lecturer in Language Studies and Acting Director of the Writing Programme in the School of Linguistics and Applied Language Studies at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. She has lectured internationally in various areas of text analysis and semiotics and has published scholarly research in writing strategy, pragmatics and the semiotic analysis of film, as well as textbooks in professional writing and in communication studies. Her research interests include semiotics, narratology and the philosophy of language. She is author of Professional Writing: The Complete Guide for Business, Industry and IT .
