Christmas

Christmas is the anniversary of the birth of Jesus Christ. For varying reasons, it is celebrated all over the world by billions of people, and Christmas day is given as a work-free holiday in most countries of the world. Amongst the things that made Jesus Christ a very special person were his miracles, his healings, and his teachings, some of which I have discussed in this book, in relation to current events, situations and realities; with one of my intentions being, to contribute to the debate or long overdue discussions on the interdependency of the tripod of World Peace, Global Inclusiveness, and Tolerance of all people and religions. Jesus Christ taught on a wide variety of subjects, to furnish his followers (all Christians) the necessary knowledge required to get through life as good and righteous people, and to ultimately obtain salvation and eternal life. In Chapter 5 of this book, I have outlined his teachings on the followings topics, and hopefully you will find them useful: (1) Prayers (2) Bullying (3) Beatitudes (4) Love (5) Parables (6) Charity and Alms (7) Anxiety and Greed (8) Temptation and Power (5.2) BULLYING (extract) - Bullies come in all shapes, sizes, or groups, and can be encountered anywhere. The devastating effect they have in common is that they make the lives of their victims 'hell on earth'... I can relate to the issue of bullying, having been a victim at various points in my life, and by outlining some of my experiences, I hope that other victims and potential victims, can be encouraged never to lose heart... see inside for details. 'There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men'. (Proverb

Christmas

Chapter 3 Some relevant events around the birth of Jesus Christ There are some relevant events around the birth of our Lord Jesus that are worth knowing, and I have decided to outline the following: (1) The Virgin Mary and the Angel Gabriel (2) Joseph the Carpenter and the Angel (in his dreams) (3) The Virgin Mary and her cousin Elizabeth (4) King Herod and the 'three wise men' (5) Prophet Jeremiah's "Rachel weeping for her children"!!! (1) The Virgin Mary and the Angel Gabriel - When the LORD our God decided that it was time to send his Son into the world for the first time as a human being, to feel and to know what it means to be human, and to be a mediator and ransom for our sins, the child would have to be born by a 'holy birth' of a virgin who had known no man sexually. And so it was that the LORD our God selected the 'Virgin Mary', a righteous and blessed young lady engaged to be married to Joseph the Carpenter, a descendant of King David. Both Joseph and the Virgin Mary lived in the city of Nazareth in Galilee. "5. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Jesus Christ; 6. Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time." (1 Timothy 2 : 5 - 6) And the LORD our God sent 'Angel Gabriel' to the Virgin Mary to forewarn her of what was to become of her, and when the angel appeared before her he said "Hail (Mary), thou that art highly favoured, the LORD is with thee: blessed art thou among women" . And as the Virgin Mary wondered what sort of salutation that was, the angel further said to her "Fear not Mary, for thou hast found favour with God, and behold thou shalt conceive in thy womb and bring forth a Son and shalt call his name Jesus. "26. And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, 27. To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. 28. And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women . 29. And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. 30. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. 31. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS . 32. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: 33. And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. 34. Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? 35. And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee : therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God." (Luke 1 : 26 - 35) (2) Joseph the Carpenter and the Angel (in his dreams) When Joseph the Carpenter found out that his espoused wife (fiancée) was pregnant, and certainly not by him , he was downhearted and considered ways of ending the relationship privately, so as not to make a public example of her. Then an angel of the LORD our God appeared unto him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take Mary as thy wife , for that which is conceived of her is of the 'Holy Ghost', and she shall bring forth a Son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus". "18. Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. 19. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not
